When Jesus expressed His desires for whoever wanted to learn from Him, He made it clear what His disciples needed to do. Sacrificing personal interest and ambition is first on the list. What He has called me to do may be different than the plans I have for my life. Pursuing our own interests hinders the work Jesus has for us. His disciples are also called to make sure we take up the cross.
Jesus died for the sins of the world. He was made to carry His cross to His execution. When we engage with others, are we more willing to prove we were right or should we learn from Jesus’ example of bearing the sins of others in hopes of Jesus conviction and transformation power in their lives. Lastly, disciples are required to follow Jesus.
The destination will be adventurous. It has its ups and downs along the way. Days of fulfillment will be intertwined with moments of trials and tribulations. But He promised to be with us! Are you ready to go?
