Open Our Eyes

II Kings 6: 15:  And when the servant of the man of God arose early and went out, there was an army, surrounding the city with horses and chariots. And his servant said to him, “Alas, my master! What shall we do?” 16 So he answered, “Do not fear, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them.” 17 And Elisha prayed, and said, “Lord, I pray, open his eyes that he may see.” Then the Lord opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw. And behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.

Often times in our lives, we are surrounded and distracted by many circumstances. The mundane things of the day cloud our ability to focus on the task God has assigned. It could be unexpected challenges that distract us. It could be health problems, work related or even family issues. Anything or anyone that causes us to focus more on it than our Creator is problematic especially when it paralyzes us or inhibits our ability to trust God.

Elisha boldly told his servant not to be afraid. He prayed to God and asked God to reveal to the young man what God allowed him to see. God opened his eyes and he saw the army of the Lord all around Elisha. As we continue this Christian journey, God has given us an intercessor (Jesus) and He is constantly reminding us not to be afraid. God open our eyes so we can see the army you have fighting on our behalf. Give us peace and comfort when the storms of life clouds our ability to see the Son. And let us walk in faith with our eyes wide open!
